Checking in With our Adopted Greys - Nala
Nala left our care homes last November to find her new home, all the way in Germany! We wrote to her mum and dad to ask her how she was getting on...
Dear IRGT,
We wanted to send you our warmest greetings from Germany and thank you again for everything. Please pass our gratitude to everyone in Ireland who took such wonderful care of Nala.
Our journey with Nala actually began through our neighbor, right after we moved into our new home. She introduced us to the rescue organization and helped us find Nala. It is such a lovely coincidence that our neighbor also has a female Greyhound—the two of them get along splendidly! Nala now waits by the fence every day for our neighbor and her dog, because she knows she’ll get some treats and lots of affection.
Nala joined our family (my wife, our 4-month-old daughter, and me) on November 29th, so she spent her first Christmas with us. She has a wonderful big brother now: our 7-year-old Greyhound, Rocky, who is also from Ireland. One thing that deeply touches us is how incredibly tender and loving she is with our 4-month-old daughter. She is so gentle and careful around the baby.
In the beginning, she was very shy, but she is making huge progress every day. She looks up to Rocky a lot; they walk together like a perfect team. She was a bit scared of our large garden at first, but now she loves playing football there for hours or racing Rocky through the snow.
She is a total "cuddle-bug." To make her feel safe, she slept in bed with us from the very first night. She is always welcome to stay with us, but she has gained so much confidence that she now often chooses to sleep with Rocky in his bed. They love to snuggle up closely together at night.
She fits into our family perfectly, as if she has always been with us. We can tell how well she was looked after in Ireland—she even arrived with a little bit of "extra padding" because she was so well-fed!
Thank you so much for everything you did for her. We are so happy she found us.
Warm regards from Germany.
We would like to thank Nala's mum and dad so much for sending us such a lovely message and pictures! We are delighted that she is getting on so well in her forever home.
If you have an adoption story to tell, please don't hesitate to get in touch! We would love to hear from you.
